One of the most critical services for all communities is its emergency medical services. Personnel working in the area of EMS will be able to communicate with Spanish-speaking persons in order to: a) make an initial assessment of the situation upon arriving at the scene; b) determine the chief complaint of the injured or ill person(s); c) gather a history of any existing health issues; d) provide initial treatment and utilize body commands to make assessment and treatment; e) acquire patient identification and request or refusal of transport permission; and much more.

This program is designed for nurses who work in a hospital and need to break the language barrier in order to better care for Spanish-speaking patients.  Spanish for Hospital Nurses will allow nurses to use Spanish successfully to perform routine duties.  Topics include:  patient body commands and positioning, calming the patient, initial assessment, routine in-bed procedures, routine out-of-bed procedures, treatment procedures, and much more.

If you are a law enforcement officer who finds himself/herself frequently dealing with Spanish-speaking persons while performing your duties, you need Spanish for Law Enforcement Officers in order to carry out your responsibilities.   This online program prepares you to use the specific, practical Spanish you need on the job. Topics include: car stops, issuing citations, identifying individuals, body commands, medical emergencies, and field interview questions.

Michigan Officers - This course has been approved by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards for 14 hours. Please provide your MCOLES # (license number)

Minnesota Officers - This course has been approved by the Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training for 14 credits.  The Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training recommends officers maintain their Certificate of Completion to prove successful completion of their required credits.

Nevada Officers – This course has been approved by the Nevada Commission on Peace Officers’ Standards and Training for 14 hours.

New Mexico Officers - This course has been approved by the New Mexico Department of Public Safety's Training and Recruiting Division for 14 hours.

Libraries are wonderful assets for the entire community, including Spanish-speakers.  If, however, no one on the library staff can communicate with Spanish-speaking persons, all the wonderful services that the library can offer are lost to them.  In order to meet the needs of Spanish-speakers at your library, you need to take our online program, Spanish for Library Personnel.  After completing our program, you will be able to use Spanish in order to communicate all the services available at the library, as well as explain library procedures.
