LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, paramedics and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) will be able to do utilize Spanish in order to do the following:
Greet and identify patients and yourself;
Employ basic courtesy phrases;
Use communication strategies and questions to negotiate a mutual level of understanding with Spanish-speakers;
Determine chief complaint;
Conduct initial assessment;
Obtain medical history;
Initiate treatment;
Employ body commands for assessment and treatment;
Facilitate transport of sick and injured;
Explain transport policies.
You will also gain a basic understanding of various differences between U.S and Latino cultures that are important to know in order avoid possible misunderstandings.
